Susan Dodd Memorial Scholarship Receives $50,000 Gift
by Public Information Office on Jan 23, 2025GILROY, CA - The Â鶹´«Ã½ Foundation announces a $50,000 gift from the Hauer-Dodd Revocable Family Trust to support the Susan Dodd Memorial Scholarship Fund. This generous contribution will help ensure the long-term sustainability of two annual $2,000 scholarships for Â鶹´«Ã½ students pursuing degrees in Kinesiology or participating in athletics.
The scholarship, established in 2020, honors the legacy of Susan Dodd, a beloved figure at Â鶹´«Ã½ who served the institution for 37 years. During her tenure, Dodd worked as a full-time kinesiology instructor, coach, Athletic Director, and department chair. Her dedication to student success and passion for athletics continued even after retirement, demonstrated by her $120,000 donation to the Athletics Department in 2023.
"This gift reflects Susan's lifelong commitment to education and athletics at Â鶹´«Ã½," said Dr. Pedro Avila, Superintendent/President of Â鶹´«Ã½. "Her legacy will continue to impact future generations of student-athletes and kinesiology majors."
The Susan Dodd Memorial Scholarship is available to continuing students majoring in Kinesiology and transfer students who are either Kinesiology majors or have participated in Â鶹´«Ã½ athletics. Applications for the 2025-26 academic year will open on January 27, 2025.
